Of the 5 elements, Ether, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth, Kapha types are made mostly of water and earth.
This means that Kapha types will experience imbalances where these elements are present in the body. Kapha types are caring and like to nurture, often giving so much of themselves they’re left feeling drained.
This can show up as depression, and a stagnant lifestyle. Kaphas have a strong stamina and can carry a lot for a while, but it is important that they rest so they can maintain their strong immune system.
Kapha types typically suffer from chest and sinus congestion, heaviness in stomach after meals, and weight gain. You can find a Kapha caring for others and working with their hands.
Do you feel stuck, like life is just too much and you just can’t go anymore? Feeling overwhelemed by the endless day to day tasks? Maybe you suffer from depression, lack of energy and loneliness. Perhaps you notice that you’re gaining weight easily, have a heaviness in your stomach after meals, and suffer from frequent sinus and lung infections. These are all signs of a Kapha imbalance, all which are common to Kapha types.
Learning and implementing the tools of Ayurveda to understand your mind-body type can help you maintain a well balanced Kapha Dosha.

Hi, I'm Katelyn! I am an Ayurvedic Wellness Consultant, Integrative Nutritionist, and Yoga Instructor. I am trained to look at everything from an elemental perspective. Ayurveda is a healing science, translating to “wisdom of life”. It's an integrative approach to health that takes into account not just your physical body but also your mind and soul.
Dosha is an expression of the elements. You have all 3 Doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha but one is typically dominant and causes imbalances.
